one-day adventures

“There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless.

So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.”

In the interests of (limited) time, I will condense my experiences into three categories: Fun, Done and Learnt.

filming a music video

Date: 3 May 2025 (Saturday), 8 PM

Learnt: Actresses with pretty faces require special help from nearby humans, to wick off (inconvenient) perspiration that forms on their bodies – all these have to be prepared with them, before they appear on camera.

Done: I informed a young gentleman about the freegan – or otherwise money-less – lifestyle.

Fun: my role in this music video? I was a “background extra”: my job was to walk around the protagonist, as part of a crowd that numbered about twenty people. It was fun to observe the director at work – she was clearly experienced, and (yet) still feeling enthusiastic about her chosen craft.

running an “up-cycling” workshop

Date: 8 June 2025 (Sunday), 1.30 PM

Learnt: I discovered something known as a dehydrating machine – also known as a food dehydrator. I was at the age of some 34-years-and-7-months, when I saw such a wondrous appliance for the first time, “in real life”. (of course, I doubt I will feel so fond of it, when it inevitably malfunctions or starts a *gasp* electrical fire). For those who are just as un-knowledgeable as me, it looked something like its cousins that have appeared in the Internet article there.

Done: I washed up the paint-palettes after the participants completed their art-and-craft activity. Grateful for a reliable supply of water. (please don't ask me how much water I have used in my excellent labours, thank you very much).

Fun: As a workshop assistant, I was honoured to be joined by a eleven-year-old colleague, named Callum. Callum is in the Track & Field club at his school, and it is the period of his school vacation, during this month of June. It was fun to see him offer his assistance to the workshop participants, who ranged, in age, from four to seventy. (Ages are my approximate guess).

These adventures cost me nothing except transport costs and my attention! I feel grateful to be alive and adventuring!

Until next time!

parting shot
